We have moved The Hanseatic world to Schøtstuene, which serves as a venue for new exhibitions, and to Bryggen. At Schøtstuene we will continue to share the Hanseatic history, as well as the exciting restoration process from The Hanseatic Museum's building, Finnegården 1a.

The purpose of our exhibitions and collections is to provide a representative picture of Norway’s, and particularly Bergen’s, maritime history from ancient times up until the present day.

The resources from the sea have always been imprtant here in Øygarden. From fishing to farming to oil and gas.

Fishing for your own pot and for sale in the town. Home fishing has long traditions on the islands by the sea, both as food and as a way of life.

Join a traditional wedding party in Øygarden. A beautiful bridal dress with an accompanying crown is the natural centre of the exhibition, but the guests and the party itself are also cordially present.

No other place in Norway was more harshly struck by German terror during the Second World War than Telavåg. The North Sea Traffic Museum tells the dramatic history of the people living here by the sea.

During the war, crossing the North Sea was punishable by death. At the North Sea Traffic Museum you will get an insight into the lives of those who defied this ban.

Up until a few years ago, the torpedo battery was a top-secret defence facility. Today the fully equipped battery is protected as cultural heritage. Join one of our guided tours and experience the times of the Cold War.

With Herdla Fort and the Gul-16 building as a starting point, you can get to know the little island with a lot of exciting things to offer. After a visit here, you will understand why Herdla has such beautiful beaches and such rich bird life. You will also get an insight into the island's dramatic war history.

On the 15th of December 1943, the German fighter aircraft Yellow-16 took off from Fliegerhorst in Herdla. It returned 64 years later. You can see Yellow-16 in its own exhibition at Herdla fort. Here you can also learn the entire story of the aircraft's fate.
